Northern Areas Council used Further Insight’s community research services to help them understand what to prioritise in their Strategic Plan 2024-2030, to better meet its community’s needs..
The problem
The Northern Areas Council is located approximately 200 kilometres north of Adelaide, and the area it serves has over 4,500 residents and covers an area of over 3000km2. In 2023 the Council was reviewing its Strategic Plan and needed to understand the community’s satisfaction with its services, and future priorities for the region.
The solution
Further Insight designed a tailored community survey, which was broadly distributed. We provided a full report, presentation to Council staff and Councillors, and a Community report for publication.
The result
The Community survey achieved the highest response rate for a community survey for the Northern Areas Council to date. The report included detailed understanding of the Council’s performance and highlighted opportunities to improve. It also showed how the Council is performing relative to past surveys, and to current performance of other Councils. The provided reports were found easy to understand and providing clear areas for improvement, as well as areas the Council was doing well in.
